Raise Your Gaze
Hello Friend!
How are you? Can you believe that it's March already? I don't know about you, but for me, 2018 has flown by in a blur. Between the shop rebranding, speaking engagements, product development (new resources coming soon), obligations at church, and all the other things, I just haven't had a minute to slow down.
But I need one. I'm willing to bet that you do too.
Last year, I had the privilege of helping launch Sharon Hodde Miller's Book, Free of Me. It was so very good, and I highly recommend it if you're looking for some new material. Sharon said that if she had to boil the book down to one message it would be this: Raise Your Gaze. It was the tagline of her book campaign, and it resonated with me. I haven't forgotten it.
Life is crazy. Schedules are busy. Planners are packed. It's easy to get lost in all the doing and running around and business. We all need a reminder to look up every now and then.
That's why this month, at Muscadine Press, we chose Colossians 3:2 as our verse of the month. This verse will be at the heart of our ministry throughout the month. We want to look up and look to Jesus in these weeks before Easter. Let's still our hands, quiet our minds, and just gaze on him for a while.
Set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.
—Colossians 3:2
The words of the old hymn really are true. When we turn our eyes to Jesus, the things of this crazy world really do fade away. They become less important...less pressing...less consuming...when we compare them to the light of his glory and grace.
Until next time, grace and peace.
